In https://zakelijkforum.kpn.com/lora-forum-16/lora-geolocation-8555 under the headline ' Using LoRa Geolocation - Applications' is described that the accuracy of the location will increase as you send more messages from the same location. My question is, how is this implemented on the KPN server?
- Does it take the average location from the last five messages?
- Does it keep taking the average from all received messages?, which seems unlikely.
The question is how exactly does it improve the location with multiple messages and with how many messages?
Hi @Jeroen10 , i've got some new information for you. Thanks for asking, I've also learned something again 😉
My question is, how is this implemented on the KPN server?
- Does it take the average location from the last five messages?
- Does it keep taking the average from all received messages?, which seems unlikely. It’s based on multiple factors, taking in account multiple influencers, but also filtering out extreme or non-consistent values. I'm very sorry, it’s not possible to go more in-depth on how our algorithm works.
The question is how exactly does it improve the location with multiple messages and with how many messages? As said, we can’t go in depth on how our algorithm exactly works. But we can however point out that with the first few 2-7 messages the accuracy improves. However since we’re currently still in a testing phase, we are working on improving the time to make the ‘geolocation ping’ accurate, so this is only a snapshot.
Hope this helps you Jeroen.

IIR filter is used. Not sure which one, it's their know-how. But there are not too many possibilities. And, actually, deep details don't matter for end users.
and with how many messages?
As many as possible. That's why moving objects aren't supported.
